UPDATE: The good news is that Apple has provided a way to make this camera usable for Mac users!

You will have to have iMovie '09 however, which is an additional purchase if you don't already have it. However, the iLife package is worth it imho.

Anyway, with iMove '09 I was able to simply attach my Panasonic Lumix camera to the Mac via the USB connection and iMovie downloaded all of the movies without a hitch, even at HD sizes.

So glad I am now able to use my camera!

Found a fix. In doing so, I said "Doh!" A fix to getting the movies off my camera. I've borrowed a PC. I'm worried that this virus software and banner will take over, but hopefully I can find a way to remove it before I return it!

I had the chance to look closer. The manual, which you can see only after opening the package, says "Read entire user guide before using camera." Well, I've worked to help create user guides, so of course they say this to help prevent support calls. But, I found a chart on how to transfer movie files off the camera. In the Mac column it says "No" to two important questions: 1-Can I unload movies without using their software (NO!) and does this software work on Macs? (NO!)

Guess what...my 90 days post purchase was just LAST WEEK! I bought it for Christmas. What luck.

And the bottom line kicker is the virus add they display on you computer finder.desktop! Here's how I got rid of it:
- spot search for the exact words showing. Mine was about panoramas, and had ArcSoft. I found an index.xml file, and removed it to the trash. I searched ANYthing that said ArcSoft. Stuff was everywhere. It didn't let me delete it from the Trash until I did Secure trash removal and whatever I could do to remove. GLORY be, when I restarted my machine, it finally disappeared.

SO! If you have a Mac, don't install their software. It doesn't work on Mac. Use other software to unload your pictures. Forget about your movies. I'm now going to try finding another way to "copy" them, record them, something...and then I won't use that button again.

Otherwise, I love my camera. But Panasonic really needs to get this one figured out. I'm hoping they develop something, and maybe that will save this.

I found you, I found you! I have a Lumix camera--great---but I got it because it's Mac compatible and has video capabililty! But I can't get any video off my camera, and their software doesn't even open after I "install" it! I read what you wrote. Wow. Am I screwed? It's the ArcSoft MediaImpression and what a joke. Have you figure anything out?
