Significant challengeds included working with a beta SDK, writing lo-level sound mixer to hardware that only provided limited capabilities and an incomplete and buggy API. Also wrote the full 32bit 2D tile and 3D object rendering code that did alpha and additive blending. 4 Tile layers, up to 500 sprites on screen at once, plus thousands of particles all of which had to operate at 30fps. All software rendered, no hardware support access was available. Included online capabilities which required writing a custom server to get around NGage Arena limitations. |
