Lane's Mac OS Programs

Please note: These programs may or may not  have anything to do with Ideas From the Deep! Please be sure to send any correspondence concerning these programs to Lane Roathe! (yes, I am working to upgrade DASM to CW10 specs...sometime!)

Browser Problems: If your browser can't find a file, try getting to the FTP site via an FTP client. Sorry, but browsers aren't very good FTP clients.

Data Assembler
136K
Yes
CodeWarrior PlugIn. Contains an assembler and preference panel, and complete source to each. Assembler handles include files, macros, and pseudo-ops, and can output to data or resource forks. Use this assembler to create data for use by another program. IFD uses it to write "scripts", using descriptive macros, for controlling actors in games.
HexEdit
114K
Yes
Based upon Jim Bumgardner's v1.07 sources, I have made HexEdit into a "fat" application so it runs native on Power Macs, make it compile with CodeWarrior, added file compare routines, and the ability to easily switch between the forks of a file. As with the original, sources are included. Supports drag & drop, and should be on the hard drive of every programmer.
ISP Install Demo #1

No
Demo of my one-button installer. Handles configuring PPP and TCP preferences, works with Open Transport or MacTCP, and is nondestructive of any current settings. Install lets user enter name and password info, select type of dial-up account (each w/different connect scripts), and calling area (determines phone #).

Everything needed to build the above installer. Use requires Bill Goodman's excellent "Smaller Installer". Includes the .cpt archive, source, and documentation! Configured with ResEdit, no compiling required. Heavy customization can be done via CodeWarrior sources.
ISP Install Demo #2

This is another demonstration of a one-button installer. This is for the Ricochet wireless modem (from Metricom, Inc.) and not only configures PPP and TCP, but also configures Netscape. The end result is a very simple one-button installation, after which the user can not only browse the web, but send and receive e-mail, and use the newsgroups, all without having to configure anything themselves!
